What would you do if you got tomorrow’s news a day early? That’s the premise behind this nifty little series. Some people might decide to become rich by making a killing in the stock market or winning the lottery. Not Gary Hobson.
Gary receives tomorrow’s Chicago Sun-Times each morning along with a mysterious cat. He doesn’t know why or how. He just knows that he’s been given a chance to make a small corner of the world a better place.
He doesn’t wear a cape or have special powers. He’s not always happy about getting the paper and it’s hard coming up with explanations for how he knows the things he knows. He’s just a normal guy who has tomorrow’s paper to guide him. And even having the paper doesn’t guarantee that he’ll make the right decision or always save the day.
It’s too bad that CBS didn’t invest more time in this series. The stars are likeable and the idea is intriguing. The quality of the scripts during the series’ four year run were, shall we say, somewhat uneven, but when a script hit on all cylinders the show was terrific. And even the less than stellar shows were enjoyable to watch.
