Buffy the Vampire Slayer: 1997 - 2003

She saved the world. A lot.

Welcome to the Buffy Alcove. Celebrating six years online - April 1999 to April 2005.

Complex. Dark. Funny. Scary. Changeable. Witty. Real.

How can a show about vampires and demons be all those things, especially real? Layers on layers on layers... If you haven't watched Buffy because you think it's only about vampires and demons, then you're missing out on some of the best entertainment on TV today. Oh sure, they're all there -- the vampires, the demons, a few witches, but that's just the most superficial layer of the show. Don't get me wrong. If that was the only layer of the show it would still be quite entertaining.

Delve deeper and you'll find complex characters dealing with life -- and not just "teen angst", but real life. This show may be marketed at teens, but it's not a "teen" show. It's a show for people of all ages who prefer entertainment that makes them think. The characters grow and change and deal with issues that people of every age face. It's just that sometimes those issues are disguised as a vampire or a demon.

The writing is top-notch; the acting is excellent. What more could you ask? Oh, did I mention the snappy action scenes with some of the best choreographed fights around?
